Lorain County Ohio
Hello I live in Lorain County Ohio and I have read many of the Spooky Ohio books. I have a few paranormal experiences of mine to mention.
Well, as for paranormal experiences. . . When I saw the angel, it was early fall, I was easily 16 or so. It was actually when the sun was completely down, and the sky was still mid-twilight blue: you know dark enough for street lights, but light enough that you can still see thing clearly. The angel was like this really bright light in the shape of human, I saw when I was in my grandparents (father's side) old back yard. They have moved since, but what is really weird is that my father and step-mother are now really religious and yet I am the one who saw the angel. (North Ridgeville, Ohio)
As for the spiritual presence, my good friend and I went out with a friend of his that drives out to this place called Gore Orphanage Rd. . . in a city called Vermilion, Ohio. It is actually just like 10 miles west of where my friend lives. . . about 17 miles from where I live. We will just drive out there just to see if we can see something, hear something or feel something.
Vermilion is know have many paranormal happenings in the city. However Gore Orphanage. . . has much history. There are two serious legends. . . One is about a man who had seven children and they all died one day after each other of some disease. The man supposedly when crazy and still haunts the ground. The other legend is about an orphanage that was supposed to have caught fire. . . there are rumors whether there were kids in there are not, but one thing that always stays the same is the part of about a man with an axe who tries to save the kids and gets burned going into the fire. (Wow, I am giving myself goosebumps just telling you the tale.)
Anyway. . . There have been two times we have been out there, we have gotten stuck, as Gore Orphanage Road is very whiny, and has a few very steep hills to drive up. There were a few times my heart was going to beat out of my chest, because we were stuck on an edge and had to turn around. I did see this one transluent figure but this one house as we drove by. I also felt the entire heat of the car vanished and all of the windows were closed the last time we went out which was in January 2009. The heat went out when we drove by this old abandoned gas station. I have witnesses that have saw and felt the same thing. Current Mood: shocked

Hi, I just joined this community. My name is Deirdre, I am a 20 year old student from Boston. I am mostly interested in historical research on folklore like vampires and hauntings and such, and I'm alays trying to find new places to learn about and visit.
So, does anyone know any good hauntings in New England?

My name is Rachael, and I'm also from Ohio. I've been interested in the paranormal for several years, but this is the first group I've joined that deals with the subject, so bear with me.
I know I'm a newbie, but does anyone mind if I ask some questions to get conversation going? For instance, we all seem to be fans of ghoststudy.com. I just went through August's pictures. I would bet money that the "Direct passage to Hades" picture is a fake. It looks kind of like a promotional movie poster. I know next to nothing about faking pictures, but it's too dramatic to be real. I've looked at most of the backlog of pictures on ghoststudy and I can only think of one other time a skull/skeleton picture showed up and that was nowhere near as graphic as this one.
Anyone have any stories about ghostly photographs of their own? My family went of a ghost tour in Fredericksburg once (if you ever go on vacation there, look that up. It was a great tour) and all the pictures of this one haunted church had a reddish arc in the corner, no matter what angle we took the picture from.
I believe I have had some paranormal experiences myself. If you're interested in reading them, they are in the Febuary 13th entry of my personal livejournal. Most of them could be explained by imagination or mundane reasons, but I'm inclined to believe they are more than that. Do any of you have personal experiences they would like to share?
Do any of you have an opinion on sleep paralysis? I first heard of it while researching narcolepsy, but it comes up quite often in paranormal discussions. At first I stuck with the sleep disorder community's explanation, but after reading counter-points, I'm not sure. The main argument for it being a physical condition is that when you sleep, your brain "paralyzes" your major muscles and sleep paralysis is caused by your conscious mind waking before your muscles do. But experience seems to show that you are not paralyzed when you sleep. People toss and turn, kick off blankets, and even sleepwalk. I won't make an opinion until I've researched this further, but it's intriguing.
Okay, now that I've bored you all (sorry about that. I like to ramble), what paranormal areas are you interested in? I'm interested in ghosts, ESP, psychic dreaming, ghost photography, contact with the afterlife (I read Sylvia Browne and James Van Praagh, although I'm still deciding whether or not I believe them), and cryptozoolology. I also like learning about skeptic's theories, such as infrasound (sound too deep to hear that may alter sensory perception).
I apologize for the long introductory post. I'm glad to meet all of you and I'm looking forward to being part of such a unique community.

Hi i'm David from Ohio. I'm 19 and have always been very sensitive to a lot of things unseeable. I have many stories to tell if this place starts moving well. I also can get some of my friends who take photo's at very haunted places like Ohio University to post many of the anomalies that have come up in their pictures. I'll check back in often though!:)

List of Interests
I didn't see this group while typing in a number of interests, so I thought I'd be helpful and create a list that should get much more "hits" by possible future members. It's already alphabetized, has commas and everything, so you can just cut and paste. (Note: EVP is typed out fully because many people, like myself might not abbreviate it, and then we would miss a potential member.)
automatic writing, borley rectory, cryptozoology, eclipses, electronic voice phenomena, gettysburg, ghost hunters, ghostly photography, ghost research, jersey devil, mothman, orbs, palmistry, paranormal phenomena, paranormal research, poltergeists, spirit guides, uss queen mary, winchester mystery house,
I hope this helps! Current Mood: hopeful
I'm Nicole, and I'm 29. I live in Eastern WA, and I'm a clairvoyant adept.
I liked the description of this community, even though there aren't any other members yet, because this seems to be a very reasonable, level-headed community compared to the more Gothic, "spooky" styled ones out there.
I'm more into approaching paranormal phenomena from a balanced viewpoint, trying to find a scientific explanation if possible, though I'm not a skeptic on the subject.
How are ya?
What do you think of the new July gallery at http://www.ghoststudy.com
